Author's Notes: Written for the November DanJan Challenge: Develop your plot around the number three. It's up to you what the number signifies in your fic, but it must be a crucial element to the storyline.

Thanks Meg for beta-ing this for me, as always.

LOVE the fic!!! I could totally picture what was happening, like watching an episode. Your attention to detail with the plot and the characters was awesome! Great job with the suspense! Only a couple of times did I even have an idea what was coming next. Thanks for the middle-of-the-night read!

Oh thanks! Yeah, it's a bit cliche. I tend to fall into that when I write anything a little romance-like. I normally like to write regular ol'gen. But it made for a nice change :)

I didn't think it was cliche. I loved it!

I love when unexpected things happen when writing. They tend to be the best :)

Oh, goodie!!! A long one! You've just provided my study break for today--I will endeavor to read in pieces to break up the day of mad productivity that I'm going to have! ;)

Yes! Mad productivity. We will triumph!

I couldn't throw myself into my studies until the fic stoppes pestering me. Very sad.

Okay, so I didn't exactly break it into little bits to last me all day; when I got to the second "little bit" I got so swept up in the story that I just finished it! So wonderful!!! As always, it was fantastically well-written, and your characterization of Daniel was spot-on. But the thing that really got me was that through Daniel's realization that Janet wouldn't want other people to die so that she could be saved, and that it was okay to let her go, I found myself really unable to figure out whether you were going to bring her back or not in the end--and what's more, I wasn't sure it would have mattered a lot if she had stayed dead because you had dealt with the larger issues. Of course, I was overjoyed when she wasn't, and I did suspect and hope that's where you were going!!! Because Heroes fix-its are nearly always preferable to dead!Janet fics, in my mind! ;)

And now back to work!

Thanks, I am glad you enjoyed!

I prefer happy endings myself, but I wrote it so it could go either way. I know its a bit of a cliche theme so I wanted to put int a little guesswork and I did really need for it to be deeper. I needed Daniel to walk away with something that could change him.

Personally, I think it would be better as a sad little fic where Daniel learns to let go but Meg wouldn't let me ;)

Well, good for Meg! ;)

I mean yes, sad, angsty fics do have their place, of course, but I'm glad this one had a happy ending!
