Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?

I wrote way less than I normally do. I'm not sure if this is a good or a bad thing. I've just been so busy with teaching tests, applications, and job woes.

What's your favourite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest?

I think it would be Mismatched. I'm not sure why. I just feel that it contained a spark that I had been missing for a while. It holds heart and soul and a sweet sadness that really held the story together. Plus, the idea in and of itself I am very proud of as it is one of my more creative ventures.

Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?

I wasn't very risky this year. My biggest risks were writing pairings I don't normally write, like Sam/Jack and Daniel/Vala. I also wrote some Smallville fanfic for the first time. All of these fics allowed me to work outside my comfort level.

Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year?

Oh yeah. I'll probably fail but:

1. Finish one fanfic novel
2. Finish three fanfic short stories
3. Finish one pro novel
4. Finish three pro short stories

My Best Story of the Year

I think it's Stasis. The characterization was some of the best I've done and I liked how the theme of standing still and being unable to move forward worked throughout it. It worked for me. It didn't do as well as I thought, but I feel like it was one of my stronger stories of the year.

Story Most Under appreciated by the Universe in My Opinion

This time I say Frequency. Technically, I didn't offically write it in 2007, but as a zine story, it was released on the internet in 2007. While I did put a lot of hardwork into it, and played with horror and suspense within the Stargate universe, it wasn't well received. It's mostly Jack and Daniel friendship and then team, but it might have been too odd for people to handle. I'm not sure. It just didn't really make much of an impact with people.

Most Fun Story

Either Enjoying the view or Panic at the Disco. I would have to say Panic at the Disco though. It was a spontaneous fic and it was just really odd and fun.

Most Sexy Story

Do I even have one of those? I guess the sexiest story I did this year would have to be Afterglow. The tension in that story is palpable.

Story With the Single Sexiest Moment

Same fic, Afterglow. I guess the opening scene between Sam and Daniel. At least, I've been told it was hot.

"Holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story

I don't think I have one of those. I write whenever I get an idea. I held off from writing Mismatched for a long time because I thought it might be one of those "wrong" fics, but a lot of people really liked it. Other than that, I can't really say I wrote anything that would set me off.

Hardest Story to Write

Faith and Recovery, my Jack/Daniel ficathon entry was the toughest for me to write. Genie of the MALP came in a close second but it wasn't nearly as frustrating as Faith and Recovery. I struggled through it because I really wanted to do something different with them, but also keep true to the genre. I think I managed to convey what I wanted to even if that means it won't ever be a popular story. My Jack/Daniel stuff never is anyway ;)

Biggest Disappointment

Probably Silicon Knights. What I planned for the story and what became the reality are two different things. I still think many of the exchanges and scenarios are funny, but it didn't click thematically which undercut the depth of the story.

Biggest Surprise

Either Enjoying the View or Something Old. I was very surprised just how many people enjoyed Enjoying the View, but I'm even more surprised how many people liked Something Old. I'm still struck just how many people read it and enjoyed it. It also helped me realize there are still many people out there that enjoy Jack/Sara and hence, the birth of jack_sara

ETA: If you're roaming around my LJ and find some posts gone or you click on a link and it's locked, don't take offense. I'm doing some LJ reorganizing and I'll be unlocking some stuff soon. You haven't been blocked for any reason. I'm just organizing and cleaning my journal up :)

You have to forgive me since I absolutely know nothing of SG-1 (except that the MacGyver guy is on the show right? Or did I also get that mixed up) so I definitely couldn't comment on those fics.

But Smallville fics! :D I'm off to read those.

My journal has always been predominantly SG-1 since it's the first fandom I got into online. Though offline, I've always been big into X-Files, Superman related stuff, and Star Wars. Now that SG-1 has ended, I'm branching out a little bit with online fandoms which includes Smallville and Supernatural. I haven't talked as much about them because my flist is only now starting to include fans of non-SG-1 related material. It's fun :)

Branching out also allows me to start to dabble in writing for say Smallville (and probably LnC when I am finished watching the DVDs) and I hope to read some too. I'm still in the "whoa! navigating through new fandom territory phase." Heh. Though, I haven't given up my old fandoms either.

So don't worry about it. :) You'll see me talk about a broad range of stuff. I'm just excited I know people from a bunch of different shows/fandoms now :)
