About Me: Revisited
I am reposting this for the new people on my flist. Hi new people! Let us commense the squee :)

The following is by no means a complete list.

Current Active* Fandoms/Shows:
Supernatural (The BIG one for me right now)
Smallville (My crack/fun show - I include other Supes mythos)

Semi-Active/Interests:
Dark Angel
Lost

Non-active Fandoms/Interests:
SG-1 (Still love it, but creatively I'm dry)
Star Wars (But I still love it to pieces)
Final Fantasy X (Awesome story)
X-Files (I miss you, show!)
Harper's Island (It ended up pretty good!)

Possible Future Shows:
Leverage (Sorry, not watching it any time soon)
Chuck (Same with this one)
Flash Forward (Not sure, but I know it starts soon)

I'm still finishing up Farscape, but I'm not liking it as much as most. I am also currently watching Space: Above and Beyond, which is better than I thought it would be.

* I define activity by obsession. The more fannish I am about a show, the more active I am, which means the more likely I'll post art/fic/meta/misc about the show of choice.

I love storytelling. Therefore, I love movies, TV, novels, and the writing process. Now, even though I love all these things, it doesn't mean I am a TV junkie or that I have a huge collection of books and movies. I'm also very picky. But the act of storytelling, especially with elements of the fantastic, guide my life.

I'm trained in anthropology and history, and have a massive love of mythology. In general, I'm idealistic and hopeful, but tend to be a pessimist about my own life. I am insatible in my curiosity, and am a truth-seeker. I also have a deep love for science, specially earth science, and I almost went into geology. I've recently discovered I want to be a teacher. I picked anthropology because it's cheating - I get to study everything ;)

I always have a fave character for every show, but I tend to love my shows so much that I rarely hate a character. I have a couple of OTPs but I'm not militant about them. I can handle them with other people as long as I know they are together in the end. I also don't care for character bashing or pairing bashing. I can be critical of characters or character arcs, but I like to think we can all have our opinions in a respectful way. So I ask the same on my journal, please.

I don't mind slash, but I really can't stand Wincest. I don't RPS, either. I can't slash in SPN. I used to slash occasionally for SG-1, but I'm no longer a slasher for any fandom.

For more info on my fave characters and ships see my profile. For the record, in SPN fandom I am devoutly a Deangirl, but I love Sam, John, Bobby, Castiel, Ellen, and all the rest. My two least fave characters are Ruby and Bela, but I don't hate them either.

I do read fanfic, but it's very slow coming right now. I tend to read fic from people with similar ficcing interests or those very close to me. I'll help anyone with ideas, though.

I don't really follow actors and actresses, but have a HUGE crush on Jensen Ackles right now. I am known to lust after Jared Padalecki as well. I actually prefer not to know to much about actors since it tends to mess up my view of the characters. I don't need to know what they eat for breakfast or all about their personal lives. I'd rather that stay private for them.

I love music. Right now, I'm into Shiny Toy Guns, Muse, Sonata Arctica, Within Temptation, The Rasmus, Kamelot...I have also discovered the joy of classic rock.

I am human, and therefore I tend to read/comment on the LJ's of people who read/comment on mine. This tends to go for fanfic, too. It's not very fair, but like I said it's human and I'm being honest.

I write both for publication and for fandom. I don't really discuss my original stuff here unless it's just general conversation, but I do have a filter for it. I do actively discuss the writing process and technique and general writing squee.

Fanfic - (SPN) When I'm reading, I like canon-based stuff. I like the boys to sound like the boys. I hate limp!Sam and Dean that is only written as comic relief/all pop culture references. That reminds me too much of dumb!Jack from SG-1. I like plot and mystery, and heroic/funny but whumped Dean with protective and proactive Sam. But hey, we all have our own kinks ;) Humor fic is always a win/win for me too, as long as it's not too cracky or stupid. I like stuff that could be easily on the show. (This applies for all my fandoms as well.)

Writing Fanfic - I have a tendency to write plotty, longer fic with a range of emotion. So there will be humor and angst, light moments and dark. I try my best with gen, non-pairing stuff with a hearty plot with strong canon characterization. With SPN, I write gen stories focused on the brothers, but I have explored some Dean/Jo fic, too, and too my surrpise rather love it. I'm even writing Dean wing!fic which I swore never to do, but hey why not have SOME fun right? I currently write SPN fanfic fairly exclusively, though I dabble with Smallville and Dark Angel a bit on the side. I used to be prolific in SG-1 and while I saw myself as a plotty team girl, I wrote just about everything.

Probably most importantly, I enjoy conversation the most. People who know me well know that I can be chatty when motivated. I love to be able to get into a conversation on LJ or wherever. I do not like when people try to be elitists or think they are so much better than everyone else. BNF behavior irks me. I'm not talking about people that it just happens to, but people that obviously use it is as tool. That's all I'm going to say about that ;)

I am also currently watching Space: Above and Beyond, which is better than I thought it would be.

Isn't it, though? Surprised me too. Too bad it got cancelled.

LOL, yeah I still go to the boards because I am INSANE.

I'm thinking of taking a minor break until the next ep airs, though. SV fandom doesn't get to me much since I tend to see it as a joke, but when I start to get ticked off, I know it's gone too far. It's pretty terrible right now. Every fan for himself/herself sort of mentality. It used to just be mainly shipper groups at each other's throats. Now it's every character's fan group out for blood. Insane, I tell ya.

Loved reading this post!

I was a HUGE fan of X-files! I didn't know anything about online fandom though and so completely enjoyed it on my own and fell off after Mulder found his sister for the ninth time and I got confused about the corn and the bees. I tried to watch on and off... then there was all that drama between Chris Carter and the leads. Then Robert Patrick <3 and that annoying girl... so I don't know how it all ended. But I loved that show. I have Barbie and Ken as Mulder and Scully.

Oh I love the original Star Wars trilogy. <3 Prequels... not so much. I even read a few of the novels.

Leverage is so much fun. I haven't seen much of Season 2 but... it's a great show. Wonderful ensemble cast.

I've never read any of your writing! I see that it's such a huge part of who you are ... reading your journal. Is there any bit of fanfic or anything really that you're particularly proud of and wouldn't mind sharing? I've only seen two episodes of Supernatural. The one where the day keeps repeating and Dean keeps dying AND the one where they discover that they are characters in some guy's novels. The guy ends up being a prophet. Very cool episodes and VERY funny. But I don't mind reading fics from shows I don't watch. :D

Great post.

X-Files was my show. I don't watch much TV, but the 90s were all about X-Files for me. I tried the show in S1, but I caught one of the worst episodes - Space - and I quit. Then I came back for good in S2.

I watched all through S8. I wasn't happy Mulder was a part-time character, but I dealt with it. I did not watch season 9. As much as I enjoyed Doggett, I didn't like the Reyes lady and the show wasn't the same without Duchovny. I knew there was some actor feuding, but I mostly stayed out of that. I wasn't involved in fandom and really didn't get involved with the internet until the show was ending. I did watch the S9 finale, though, and more recently the movie. They were all right.

I was even a BIGGER Star Wars fan, heh. I still love the originals, but the prequels have left a sour taste in my mouth.

I'll watch Leverage eventually. I can't watch too much TV at once, and I already have Supernatural and Smallville for the fall, and then Lost in the winter.

SPN - You got to see really two awesome eps :)

As for my writing, hmm. I'm not sure. You don't need to read it, but if you're curious I've written mostly from Supernatural and Stargate SG-1. I've only written a few from Smallville and Dark Angel. I haven't updated my master lists in a while, but is there certain things you won't read? (Example, I hate deathfic and won't read it or write it.)I've done everything from humor to angst to crack to epic, so if you are bored and interested maybe I could find something. :)

Re: Your Writing
Hmm, okay.

Well, for funny/humor, you might like this:

Magically Delicious: It's St. Patrick's Day and the brothers find themselves on a hunt that doesn't go exactly how they'd planned. Word Count: 1,271. Season: 3. Spoilers: A Very Supernatural Christmas. Drama, Horror. Rating: General.

If you want funny with some romance (and added crack for flavor) you could try this fic from a series I'm writing. You don't need to read any of the other parts:

Performance Anxiety : Dean's new situation brings with it problems, in more ways than one. (Dean/Jo). Sam, Castiel. Word Count: 7283. S4. Spoilers: Through Wishful Thinking. Drama, Humor. Rating: PG-13.

And action/adventure. Hmm. Those tend to be my long fics, but I guess if you were THAT bored, you could go with this one:

Pandora's Box: After Sam opens a mysterious box, he and Dean find themselves battling the same bogey their father defeated sixteen years ago. As they fight alongside an unlikely ally to safeguard the town, Dean struggles to tie up loose ends in his life while Sam continues to search for a way to save his brother's soul. Word Count: 31,931. Gen/Horror, A/A, Angst, Hunt Fic

[Chapter 1]

You can read one or all or none. Whatever floats your boat :)

I love Space: Above and Beyond. While sometimes it is a bit dated (as with anything that's 15 years old), it really stands up quite well with the characters and the overall plotline.

And I won't say anything else because I don't want to accidentally spoil you!
