Yeah, it's a graphic novel from a few years back. There is some Smallville influence in there, but a lot of stuff from the movies, different series, the cartoon, and the comics.
It's basically just another retelling of his origins and how he first becomes Superman.
Oh it was lovely! I'm so glad I put some money aside to get it. I'm really happy with it.
It did such a wonderful job at telling an origin story. I would have loved a little more time in Smallville and see how Waid envisioned Lana, but I loved LOVED the Clark and Jonathan stuff and the the Kent family as a whole. I loved the stint in Africa and the theme about identity.
The Lois and Clark stuff was fantastic. Nothing really romantic, but enough to make me smile. It's what I expect out of an origin story.
Some day, I might want to find something Clois oriented. I knew picking this up it wasn't Clois, but about Clark becoming Superman. And since THAT was the reason I signed up for Smallville, it was awesome to read it in a comic :)
Lex was a little too crazy for me, but I blame Rosenbaum for that. I love his Lex so so much that nothing can really top it for me.
Bu it's like they took the best from Smallville, the movies, and the cartoon and comics and made a solid origin story out of it.
